The Solidago Foundation was founded in 1995 with mission to promote justice, equity, sustainability and enfranchisement for all through charitable Grantmaking to, and work with, progressive, empowering, community-based organizations and collaborations.

On January 1, 2007 Solidago Foundation, a new Delaware corporation, took over the staff and programs of Solidago Foundation, Inc., a distinct New York corporation, which has suspended operations. All activities prior to that date were those of Solidago New York; those since of Solidago Delaware.

The Foundation is currently housed in Northampton, Massachusetts, where it operates with eight staff members.
